This past Friday the 18th, everyone at DesignTech gathered as we do each year to celebrate the year-end and the holidays. While enjoying a late lunch at Clydes Tower Oaks Lodge in Rockville, we raised our glasses to another year together as well as a significant company milestone. December 8th, 2015, marked 15 years that DesignTech has been in business.
DesignTech opened it's doors by sharing doors with Lawson Architecture until 2005 when the Kensington, MD, office opened. Of the seven employees Matt and Tom hired in the first year, all but one are working for DesignTech today. Alex Wareham, Jon Wareham, Ron Marx, Mario Garcia, Rob Harten, and Pat Lynch are a testament to the consistency and longevity of DesignTech.
At the close of 2007 DesignTech was poised to opened a second office in Leesburg, VA, under the leadership of Doug Kirby. Since 2008, DesignTech has grown to 16 employees and has completed work in 27 states across the U.S.
Back to the party. The amazing lunch at Clydes was followed by a Mechanical vs. Electrical bowling match at the Bowlmor in Rockville. The match ended in a draw for the second year in a row at 1-1. In the first match the electrical team had an average score of 105.3 while the mechanical was at 96. Team Mechanical showed up for the second match however with an average of 111.5 while Team Electrical dropped to 95. There was chatter of a springtime rematch however aches and pains felt over the weekend when the players returned to work Monday may diminish the urgency of the tiebreaker.
With many more anniversaries to come, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year in 2016.
