The Grilled Oyster Company (Cathedral Commons)

The local favorite, based in Potomac, MD has expanded to a new location in N.W. Washington in the new Cathedral Commons complex. DesignTech collaborated with Architecture, Incorporated on the fit-out of this shell space.

The project scope consisted of approximately 4,000 sq. ft. for a new restaurant and bar with a full service kitchen.

Mechanical design included two new split system air handling units (AHU) and condensing units to serve the restaurant and back of house spaces. The kitchen design included a new make-up air unit in the ground level mechanical room and grease exhaust fan located on the roof. The mechanical design required precautions regarding sound attenuation due to the proximity of the AHU to the restaurant.

Electrical design included new lighting as well as power connections to both kitchen and HVAC equipment. The lighting systems are primarily high efficiency LED fixtures and are equipped with controls to allow both daylighting during lunch hours as well as active color change during dining hours.

Plumbing design included a new men's and new women's toilet room. Additionally, the design included sanitary, domestic, and fuel gas connections to kitchen equipment.

Fire protection services were also included for the scope definition and performance specification for a Fire Protection contractor to bid.

The new Grilled Oyster Company location is now open to the public and has an incredible menu that pairs perfectly with their new comfortable atmosphere.
